Untitled Actions is a long form series of photographs and videos exploring my physical relationship to architectural space, made across sites and facilities at a university, art school and art collection. I work responsively, imaging my body in relation to and against various types of architecture. I utilise feminist strategies of play, misbehaviour and disruption within institutional spaces to posit new ways of imaging the body. They depict my experience as a mother, artist and researcher, where the boundaries of each are blurred. In one photograph, a scissor lift trolley becomes a post-partum hospital bed, in another a truck blanket takes the form of a swaddled baby. Testing the threshold of these spaces, I squeeze through gaps pushing my flesh into the infrastructure. The work more broadly images an experience of institutional space that is sensorial, alive and critical of these sites and their affect on the body.

This project contributes to my Doctorate studies at the Victorian College of Arts, University of Melbourne. This research was supported by the Commonwealth through an Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship [DOI: https://doi.org/10.82133/C42F-K220]
